Yu-Gi-Oh! Structure Decks are one of the best entry points into the game — and sometimes a source of staples at a fraction of singles prices. Each deck contains around 40 cards: a mix of new archetype support and reprints. If a Structure Deck includes a chase staple with few other printings, that deck can sell out and the staple can spike. How Structure Decks work

MSRP is typically around $10–12. You get a ready-to-play core — add a few cards and you have a functional deck. New Structure Decks often introduce or support an archetype: Fire Kings, Cyber Strike, Blue-Eyes White Destiny, Traptrix, etc. Reprints of staples (Ash Blossom, Infinite Impermanence, Called by the Grave) make some Structure Decks worth buying even if you don't play the archetype.

What to look for

Check the card list before you buy. Are there staples you need? Is the archetype something you want to build? Structure Decks usually get multiple print runs — early adopters may pay a premium; later buyers get better availability. Grief landed in Modern Horizons 2 as the black member of the evoke Elemental cycle. Three mana, evoke for a black card from hand, target opponent reveals and discards a nonland. Simple. Brutal. It powered Scam and other black-heavy strategies in Modern until the ban. Now it's gone from Modern and Legacy, but it's still legal in Timeless and Commander. We're not calling a top or a bottom — we're laying out what Grief did, why it got hit, and where it lives now.

What Grief did in Modern

Grief plus Undying Malice, Feign Death, or Not Dead After All let you strip two cards from your opponent's hand on turn one. Evoke, the creature dies, you recur it — the enters-the-battlefield trigger fires twice. That's the Scam line. Even without the double-trigger trick, a one-mana discard spell on a 3/2 body was strong. Black decks could pressure the hand and the board in one package. Play Design eventually decided Grief enabled too many non-games; it joined the Modern ban list, and Scam had to adapt or die.

Where Grief lives now

In Timeless, Grief sees play in black-based disruption strategies. No Scam loop — Timeless has different tools — but the evoke rate and the discard still matter. In Commander, Grief is a solid piece of interaction. Evoke it to rip a key card before a combo goes off; or cast it for full price if you want the body. EDHREC ranks it in the top 6,500 commanders and includes — demand is there for 99-card slots.

Reprints and price

Grief has one printing: MH2. No Secret Lair, no Masters set yet. Supply is what it is. The ban knocked some demand, but Commander and Timeless keep the card relevant. Foil and nonfoil both move. Murktide Regent from Modern Horizons 2 is one of the most recognizable finishers in Modern. Seven mana — but delve shrinks that to two or three in a deck full of cantrips and removal. It enters with +1/+1 counters for each instant or sorcery exiled to cast it, and it grows whenever one leaves your graveyard. Flying. No built-in protection, but in a format where you're casting Consider, Thought Scour, and Expressive Iteration, Murktide gets big fast. We're not calling a top or a bottom. Why Murktide defines Izzet

Izzet Murktide — the deck — runs a pile of one-mana cantrips, Ragavan, Ledger Shredder or Dragon's Rage Channeler, and a few copies of Murktide as the top end. You fill the yard, cast Murktide for cheap, and close with a 5/5 or 7/7 flyer. The card rewards playing the kinds of spells Izzet already wants: cheap, efficient, card-advantage-neutral or positive. Modern has shifted over the years, but Murktide has stayed. Boros Energy, Jeskai Blink, and other decks have had their moments; Izzet Murktide keeps showing up.

Murktide Regent has the original MH2 printing plus a Secret Lair. Foils from MH2 command a premium; the Secret Lair offers an alternate art. Murktide Regent — the Izzet Modern staple that refuses to quit

Urza's Saga from Modern Horizons 2 is a land that does three things: taps for colorless, creates Construct tokens that grow with your artifact count, and fetches a zero- or one-mana artifact. What Urza's Saga does

Chapter I: tap for {C}. Chapter II: pay {2}, tap, make a 0/0 Construct that gets +1/+1 for each artifact you control. Chapter III: search for an artifact with mana cost {0} or {1}, put it onto the battlefield, shuffle. The Construct can get huge in artifact-heavy decks. The tutor finds the right tool for the matchup. In Modern, Hammer Time uses it to find Colossus Hammer or Shadowspear. Why Charizard ex still drives the set

Charizard has been the face of Pokémon since 1999. Every era gets its Charizard, and Scarlet & Violet's Obsidian Flames gave us a Charizard ex with a powerful ability and a place in Fire decks. Play vs collect

Key cards driving demand

The set features Terapagos ex, Cinderace ex, Lapras ex, and Galvantula ex, among others. Terapagos has been a chase since announcement — the Stellar type and its role in the anime push both play and collector interest. ACE SPEC cards continue to matter for deck construction; one per deck means scarcity matters for competitive play. Enamorus, the Paradox Pokémon, and other meta-relevant picks will move with tournament results. Keep an eye on the 2025–26 Standard format: rotation (G, H, I regulation marks) affects which cards stay legal and which see a last hurrah.

Sealed vs singles

Booster boxes give you 36 shots at chase cards and secret rares. ETBs are cheaper per unit but fewer packs; good if you want the accessories. Singles remain the most efficient path if you need specific cards for a deck. For collecting, sealed tends to hold or appreciate if the set stays popular; for play, singles are almost always cheaper than cracking to find what you need. Play Booster boxes — the default

Play Boosters are the main product for most Standard sets. A box has 36 packs of 14 cards. Every pack has at least one rare or better, and many have The List slot or other inserts. Stores run draft with Play Boosters; so do Arena Direct and store championships. If you want to draft and also have a shot at set rares and mythics, this is the product. Expect to pay in the $120–150 range for recent Standard boxes (e.g. Lorwyn Eclipsed, Through the Omenpaths). Price per pack is usually $3.35–4.20.

Draft Booster boxes — the budget draft option

Draft boxes contain 36 packs of 15 cards, built for draft only. They're often $20–35 cheaper per box than Play. You get more cards per pack but fewer guaranteed rares; the design is tuned for limited, not for maximizing rare count. Wizards has been moving toward Play Boosters as the single “main” product, so Draft box supply can be limited or phased out for some sets. If you only draft and don't care about Play Booster inserts, Draft boxes are the low-cost option where available.

Collector Booster boxes — premium only

Collector boxes are for foils, extended art, Special Guests, and (in some sets) serialized cards. A box has 12 packs; each pack carries a premium price. You're not drafting with these — you're paying for variance and chase. Box prices often land in the $200–280 band for Standard sets and can go higher for premium sets. Only buy if you're explicitly chasing special treatments or the lottery; otherwise the price per pack is hard to justify.

Comparing across sets — one example

Older Standard sets often drift down as the next set releases; premium and supplemental sets (Modern Horizons, Double Masters, etc.) sit above these. Use this as a baseline, then confirm with TCGPlayer, Amazon, or your local store.

When to buy which

Sealed product price guide — Play Booster vs Draft vs Collector boxes, and when each makes sense

February 13, 2026 — If you've been playing One Piece Card Game in the West, you've lived with a familiar pain: Japan gets sets months early, the meta shifts there first, and by the time OP-whatever hits your shores, the chase cards are already priced in. That's changing. Bandai has announced that One Piece TCG products will release simultaneously worldwide starting in 2026.

What that means

Right now, there's roughly a two- to three-month gap between Japan and the West. Japan gets a set, players theorycraft and compete, and the winners and losers shake out. Then the same set arrives in North America and Europe — and everyone already knows what's good. Card prices spike on release because demand is informed; supply chases. With simultaneous release, the meta develops everywhere at once. No more "Japan had this for two months, we're just catching up." Everyone's figuring it out together.

Why it matters for the market

Unified release should flatten some of the wild price swings. When Japan and the West open the same product on the same day, there's no advance intel driving pre-order spikes or late-arrival dumps. That's not to say chase cards won't spike — they will. But the information asymmetry that gave early adopters and importers an edge will shrink. Collectors and players in the West get the same shot as everyone else. Expect the transition to happen gradually; Bandai will likely align release dates set by set, with full parity expected around mid-2026 (roughly OP-16 and beyond).

OP-14 and the EB-04 crossover

In the meantime, OP-14 "The Azure Sea's Seven" is slated for January 16, 2026 in the West, with a twist: it will include half the cards from EB-04. Western players get some of that content earlier than Japan, which is a reversal of the usual flow. A small step toward parity, and a sign that Bandai is serious about closing the gap. One Piece Card Game — simultaneous worldwide release coming in 2026

Roronoa Zoro from Romance Dawn was one of the first leaders in the One Piece Card Game — and he's still one of the best. OP01-001 gives all your Characters +1000 power for one DON!! on your turn. Simple, effective, and the foundation of Red aggressive strategies. If you're building Red, you've probably looked at Zoro. If you're collecting, you've seen the Parallel art command a premium.

Why Zoro still tops Red

Zoro's leader ability is unconditional. Play characters, attach DON!!, swing. No setup, no combo, no gimmick. Red thrives on tempo and raw power; Zoro delivers. Romance Dawn also gave us the Character version — OP01-025 — with Rush, another staple for Red decks. Together, the Leader and the Character define the archetype. New sets have added support, but the core stays: Zoro leads, Zoro swings.

Parallel art and sealed

The Parallel version of OP01-001 trades at a steep premium. Romance Dawn boxes are old; supply is finite. If you're chasing the Parallel, singles are usually the path. Roronoa Zoro — Romance Dawn leader that still defines Red

Ariel — On Human Legs was card number one in The First Chapter. Four cost, 3 Strength, 4 Willpower, 2 Lore — and Voiceless, so she can't exert to sing songs. She's not the flashiest card in the set, but she's a foundational Amber character that still sees play in casual and competitive lists. Collectors want her for the "first card ever" status; players want her for the stats and the ink cost.

Why Ariel still matters

The First Chapter launched Lorcana in 2023. Ariel set the tone: a mid-cost character with solid stats and a clear drawback. Voiceless matters in a game where singing songs drives combos — but for straightforward questing and challenging, Ariel does the job. Amber has gotten stronger with later sets, but Ariel remains a budget-friendly option and a piece of Lorcana history. Enchanted versions of other TFC cards command the highest prices; the regular Ariel is more accessible but still part of the set's identity.
