Called by the Graveyard is a Quick-Play Spell that targets a monster in the opponent's graveyard, banishes it, and negates the effects of all cards with that name until the end of the turn. In practice, you use it to stop hand traps — when your opponent drops Ash Blossom, Ghost Ogre, or Nibiru, you Called by the monster they discarded, banish it from grave, and their negate fizzles. It's Limited to one copy in the TCG, but every combo deck wants it. We're not telling you to buy or sell — we're laying out why Called by matters.

Why Called by matters

Hand traps define modern Yu-Gi-Oh. Ash Blossom, Infinite Impermanence, Nibiru, and others exist to interrupt combos. Called by the Graveyard is the main answer — it turns their discard into your opportunity. Target the discarded monster, banish it, negate that name. Your combo proceeds. Because it's Limited, you only get one copy; but that one copy can decide games. It's also a sideboard staple for decks that want to fight through hand traps in games two and three.

Called by the Graveyard — the hand trap counter that every deck plays

Infinite Impermanence debuted in Flames of Destruction and quickly became a format staple. Negate a face-up monster's effects. If you set it before activating, it also negates all other Spell/Trap effects in that column for the rest of the turn. And if you control no cards, you can activate it from hand. That last line is why it's a hand trap — going second, with an empty board, you can drop Impermanence from hand to stop a key monster. We're not telling you to buy or sell — we're laying out why Impermanence matters and where it stands after reprints.

What Impermanence does

Target one face-up monster; negate its effects until end of turn. If the card was set before activation and is still on the field at resolution, negate all other Spell/Trap effects in that column for the rest of the turn. The column negation punishes backrow-heavy decks. The hand-trap clause lets you use it when you have nothing on board — the classic going-second scenario. It doesn't destroy; it just negates. But in a game of extending, negating the right monster can stop a combo cold.

Infinite Impermanence — the hand trap that negates from hand

Nibiru, the Primal Being is the hand trap that says "enough." If your opponent has special summoned five or more times during their turn, you can tribute everything on the field, give them a 10,000 ATK/DEF Token, and drop your 3000 ATK Nibiru onto your field. Their board is gone. Their combo is over. One card. We're not calling a top or a bottom — we're reporting on the card that keeps combo decks honest.

Why Nibiru still matters

Yu-Gi-Oh! is a game of extension. Combo decks want to special summon a dozen times and end on a wall of negates. Nibiru punishes that. It doesn't stop the first summon or the first search; it waits. Five summons is the trigger. If they've overextended, you tribute their entire board and leave them with a single Token that can't attack the turn it's summoned. Nibiru has been in every competitive sideboard (and many main decks) since it hit the TCG in Rising Rampage (2019). It's been reprinted in Maximum Gold, Mega Tins, and the Rarity Collection — supply is high; demand is permanent.

When to use it

Timing is everything. Drop Nibiru too early and they haven't summoned five times yet. Drop it too late and they've already put up a negate or two. Going second, Nibiru is one of your best friends — hold it until the fifth special summon, then wipe the board. Going first, it's a brick unless you're siding it for game two. Yu-Gi-Oh! Structure Decks are one of the best entry points into the game — and sometimes a source of staples at a fraction of singles prices. Each deck contains around 40 cards: a mix of new archetype support and reprints. If a Structure Deck includes a chase staple with few other printings, that deck can sell out and the staple can spike. How Structure Decks work

MSRP is typically around $10–12. You get a ready-to-play core — add a few cards and you have a functional deck. New Structure Decks often introduce or support an archetype: Fire Kings, Cyber Strike, Blue-Eyes White Destiny, Traptrix, etc. Reprints of staples (Ash Blossom, Infinite Impermanence, Called by the Grave) make some Structure Decks worth buying even if you don't play the archetype.

What to look for

Check the card list before you buy. Are there staples you need? Is the archetype something you want to build? Structure Decks usually get multiple print runs — early adopters may pay a premium; later buyers get better availability. Yu-Gi-Oh! Structure Decks — value, staples, and what to pick

Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring debuted in Maximum Crisis in 2017 and has never really left. Discard Ash, negate an effect that adds from Deck, special summons from Deck, or sends from Deck to GY. Why Ash Blossom still matters

Ash Blossom has been printed into the ground. Common copies from Structure Decks are cheap; older Secret Rares and new Quarter Century versions cost more. The card is a staple. February 2, 2026 — Konami dropped the latest <a href="https://www.yugioh-card.com/en/limited/list_2026-02-02/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Forbidden & Limited List</a> for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG. Paper formats use the Advanced list; Master Duel has its own. If you play paper, your deck might need a second look.

What changed

The headliner: Barrier Statue of the Torrent moves to Forbidden. The Wind, Earth, and other Barrier Statues were already gone; Torrent — which locked players out of summoning non-WATER monsters — was the last one standing. Floo and other strategies that leaned on it will need to adapt. The rest of the list carries over from the October 2025 update: Maxx "C", Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess, Crystron Halqifibrax, Tearlaments Kitkallos, and the usual suspects remain Forbidden. Limited and Semi-Limited slots are unchanged for most cards.

Why Barrier Statue mattered

Barrier Statues were a long-running design problem. Lock your opponent out of their summoning type, sit on a floodgate, win slowly. Konami has been pruning them set by set; Torrent was the last Barrier Statue legal in the TCG. Its exit reduces floodgate pile strategies and should open up more diverse gameplay. We're not calling a top or a bottom on any card's price — staples that got hit have already been priced in by the community; those that dodged may see a bump. Check your list before your next locals.

Master Duel separate
