Play Booster boxes — the default

Play Boosters are the main product for most Standard sets. A box has 36 packs of 14 cards. Every pack has at least one rare or better, and many have The List slot or other inserts. Stores run draft with Play Boosters; so do Arena Direct and store championships. If you want to draft and also have a shot at set rares and mythics, this is the product. Expect to pay in the $120–150 range for recent Standard boxes (e.g. Lorwyn Eclipsed, Through the Omenpaths). Price per pack is usually $3.35–4.20.

Draft Booster boxes — the budget draft option

Draft boxes contain 36 packs of 15 cards, built for draft only. They're often $20–35 cheaper per box than Play. You get more cards per pack but fewer guaranteed rares; the design is tuned for limited, not for maximizing rare count. Wizards has been moving toward Play Boosters as the single “main” product, so Draft box supply can be limited or phased out for some sets. If you only draft and don't care about Play Booster inserts, Draft boxes are the low-cost option where available.

Collector Booster boxes — premium only

Collector boxes are for foils, extended art, Special Guests, and (in some sets) serialized cards. A box has 12 packs; each pack carries a premium price. You're not drafting with these — you're paying for variance and chase. Box prices often land in the $200–280 band for Standard sets and can go higher for premium sets. Only buy if you're explicitly chasing special treatments or the lottery; otherwise the price per pack is hard to justify.

Older Standard sets often drift down as the next set releases; premium and supplemental sets (Modern Horizons, Double Masters, etc.) sit above these. Use this as a baseline, then confirm with TCGPlayer, Amazon, or your local store.

When to buy which

February 13, 2026 — If you've been playing One Piece Card Game in the West, you've lived with a familiar pain: Japan gets sets months early, the meta shifts there first, and by the time OP-whatever hits your shores, the chase cards are already priced in. That's changing. Bandai has announced that One Piece TCG products will release simultaneously worldwide starting in 2026.

What that means

Right now, there's roughly a two- to three-month gap between Japan and the West. Japan gets a set, players theorycraft and compete, and the winners and losers shake out. Then the same set arrives in North America and Europe — and everyone already knows what's good. Card prices spike on release because demand is informed; supply chases. With simultaneous release, the meta develops everywhere at once. No more "Japan had this for two months, we're just catching up." Everyone's figuring it out together.

Why it matters for the market

Unified release should flatten some of the wild price swings. When Japan and the West open the same product on the same day, there's no advance intel driving pre-order spikes or late-arrival dumps. That's not to say chase cards won't spike — they will. But the information asymmetry that gave early adopters and importers an edge will shrink. Collectors and players in the West get the same shot as everyone else. Expect the transition to happen gradually; Bandai will likely align release dates set by set, with full parity expected around mid-2026 (roughly OP-16 and beyond).

OP-14 and the EB-04 crossover

In the meantime, OP-14 "The Azure Sea's Seven" is slated for January 16, 2026 in the West, with a twist: it will include half the cards from EB-04. Western players get some of that content earlier than Japan, which is a reversal of the usual flow. A small step toward parity, and a sign that Bandai is serious about closing the gap. One Piece Card Game — simultaneous worldwide release coming in 2026

Roronoa Zoro from Romance Dawn was one of the first leaders in the One Piece Card Game — and he's still one of the best. OP01-001 gives all your Characters +1000 power for one DON!! on your turn. Simple, effective, and the foundation of Red aggressive strategies. If you're building Red, you've probably looked at Zoro. If you're collecting, you've seen the Parallel art command a premium.

Why Zoro still tops Red

Zoro's leader ability is unconditional. Play characters, attach DON!!, swing. No setup, no combo, no gimmick. Red thrives on tempo and raw power; Zoro delivers. Romance Dawn also gave us the Character version — OP01-025 — with Rush, another staple for Red decks. Together, the Leader and the Character define the archetype. New sets have added support, but the core stays: Zoro leads, Zoro swings.

Parallel art and sealed

The Parallel version of OP01-001 trades at a steep premium. Romance Dawn boxes are old; supply is finite. If you're chasing the Parallel, singles are usually the path. If you're building for play, the regular Leader is the one you need. Either way, Zoro remains the face of Red. We're not calling a top or a bottom — we're reporting. May your DON!! be spent wisely.

Roronoa Zoro — Romance Dawn leader that still defines Red

Ariel — On Human Legs was card number one in The First Chapter. Four cost, 3 Strength, 4 Willpower, 2 Lore — and Voiceless, so she can't exert to sing songs. She's not the flashiest card in the set, but she's a foundational Amber character that still sees play in casual and competitive lists. Collectors want her for the "first card ever" status; players want her for the stats and the ink cost.

Why Ariel still matters

The First Chapter launched Lorcana in 2023. Ariel set the tone: a mid-cost character with solid stats and a clear drawback. Voiceless matters in a game where singing songs drives combos — but for straightforward questing and challenging, Ariel does the job. Amber has gotten stronger with later sets, but Ariel remains a budget-friendly option and a piece of Lorcana history. Enchanted versions of other TFC cards command the highest prices; the regular Ariel is more accessible but still part of the set's identity.

What drives Lorcana prices

Lorcana's chase comes from Enchanted cards — alternate-art, full-art versions at roughly one per two boxes on average. Character popularity (Elsa, Mickey, Maleficent, Stitch) and meta relevance both matter. Ravensburger has improved print runs since the infamous 2023 shortage, so early-set sealed can still command a premium, while newer sets are more available. Draft is popular; booster boxes move for both limited and collecting. Play Booster boxes are the default for most stores and players. You get 36 packs of 14 cards, with a guaranteed rare or better in every pack and a chance at The List and other inserts. Draft Booster boxes, where still available, are usually $10–25 cheaper per box. Ash Blossom has been printed into the ground. Common copies from Structure Decks are cheap; older Secret Rares and new Quarter Century versions cost more. The card is a staple. Arena Powered Cube returns February 10–March 2 with a new iteration of the supercharged draft format. Arena Powered Cube

The prodigal polygon is back. From February 10 through March 2 you can draft a new iteration of Arena Powered Cube — the format that throws high-powered cards from across Magic's history into one draft environment. Lorwyn Eclipsed Arena Direct (Feb 13–15) and Championship 11 (Feb 21–22)

This weekend's Arena Direct is Lorwyn Eclipsed Sealed. Rack up wins in Best-of-One Sealed; prizes range from packs and gems up to Lorwyn Eclipsed Play Booster boxes while supplies last. Two weeks later, Arena Championship 11 brings elite players to the client for a $250,000 prize pool. Decklists, competitor lineup, and viewer guide will be shared ahead of the event. March Qualifier format is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Sealed — so the Universes Beyond set is already in the competitive pipeline.

Alchemy rebalances and B&R

The same announcement that brought Historic bans and Timeless Necropotence restricted also rebalanced 13 Alchemy cards. February 10, 2026 — The <a href="https://magic.wizards.com/en/products/companion-app" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Magic Companion app</a> is getting a meaningful upgrade. <a href="https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/announcements/companion-app-update-magic-player-profiles" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Player Profiles</a> roll out the week of February 16: you'll be able to see your event history, bookmark your favorite stores, and get a dedicated inbox for important updates. By design, your profile is private — only you see it. No more digging through emails to find when the next Prerelease is; Companion will keep you on top of it.

What's in the profile

Event history — Your participation in organized play will show up in one place: event name, date, store, and when available, match results. It won't include the punt you made in the last round to miss Top 8. Just the record.

Favorite stores — You can mark stores you like and collect them in a Favorite Stores section. Handy for travel or when you're new in town. Wizards suggests picking the ones with the best food next door. We're not arguing.

Personalized inbox — Notifications for Prereleases, Store Championships, Friday Night Magic, and other notable events will land in an in-app inbox so you can check them on your own time. At launch this is app-only, not on the web portal. And they promise no spam — "we swear we won't spam you with images of Mulldrifter. Yet."

Bottom line

Companion is already the go-to for joining and running events. Player Profiles make it more useful for keeping track of where you've played and where you're playing next. Agumon from BT-01: Booster New Evolution was one of the first Rookie Digimon in the Digimon Card Game. Reveal the top five, add a Tamer, put the rest back. Simple, effective, and the start of a line that's been supported in almost every set since. Greymon, MetalGreymon, WarGreymon, Omnimon — the evolution chain is the spine of Red. If you play Digimon, you've probably seen this line. If you collect, you've seen the alternate arts and secret rares.

Why the Greymon line still defines Red

Agumon BT1-010 sets up Tamers. Tamers enable effects, reduce costs, and push the board forward. From there, the line evolves: Greymon for power, MetalGreymon for removal or pressure, WarGreymon or Omnimon to close. Newer sets have added Agumons in other colors — Yellow, Green, Black — and alternate evolutions like ShineGreymon. The core stays: Agumon finds what you need, and the line punishes opponents who can't keep up.

Collecting and play

BT-01 cards are old. Supply is finite; some printings have risen. Alternate arts for Agumon, Greymon, and Omnimon command premiums. For play, the line remains relevant — Red and Red hybrid decks still use the evolution chain. Time Stranger and Dawn of Liberator may add new support; the archetype isn't going anywhere.
