The One Piece Card Game has grown fast since its launch. If you're jumping in now, the product lineup can feel overwhelming: starter decks, booster sets, reprints, and chase cards. Here's a clear path to get started — what to buy first, what to skip until you know the game, and where to find the rules and community.

Start with a starter deck

Starter decks are the best entry point. Each comes with a fixed deck, a play mat (in many regions), and a rule insert. You get a playable list out of the box; no drafting or deckbuilding required. Pick a deck that matches a leader or color you like — Straw Hat, Navy, or one of the newer themes. Playing a few games with a starter teaches you DON!!, life, and the flow of the game. Once you're comfortable, you can upgrade with singles or crack boosters for fun.

Booster boxes and singles

Booster boxes (e.g. Romance Dawn, Paramount War, newer sets) are for drafting or chasing specific cards. If your goal is to build a certain deck, singles are almost always cheaper than cracking boxes. Use a decklist or a meta snapshot, then buy the cards you need. If you enjoy cracking packs, buy a box or two for the experience — but don't expect to open a full playset of chase cards. Check TCGPlayer, your LGS, or regional marketplaces for current prices.

Resources and community

Official rules and card databases (e.g. the Bandai site, or community-run databases) list every card and errata. One Piece TCG — how to get started and what to buy first

Uta from Paramount War (OP-02) is one of the chase cards in the One Piece Card Game. An 8-cost 8000-power Purple character with [On Play]: DON!! -2 to give your Leader and all Characters +1000 power until your next turn. She's a SEC (Secret Rare), and she supports the FILM subtype. The alternate art commands a premium; the regular version is still a key piece for Purple and FILM decks. We're not telling you to buy or sell — we're laying out why Uta matters and what to expect.

What Uta does

Uta's ability is a board-wide pump. Return two DON!! to your deck, and for one turn your entire board gets +1000 power. In a game where combat and life totals matter, that's a swing. She's expensive at eight cost — you need to build to her — but in Purple decks that ramp or stabilize, she closes games. The FILM subtype ties her to the Film Red theme; FILM decks and Uta-focused builds both want her.

Printings and price

Uta has the OP-02 Paramount War printing plus a reprint in OP-05 Awakening of the New Era (as a special version). The Paramount War SEC is the main chase; the alternate art trades at a steep premium. Romance Dawn and Paramount War boxes are older — supply is finite. If you need Uta for a deck, singles are the path. If you're cracking Paramount War, she's one of the cards that can justify the box. February 13, 2026 — If you've been playing One Piece Card Game in the West, you've lived with a familiar pain: Japan gets sets months early, the meta shifts there first, and by the time OP-whatever hits your shores, the chase cards are already priced in. That's changing. Bandai has announced that One Piece TCG products will release simultaneously worldwide starting in 2026.

What that means

Right now, there's roughly a two- to three-month gap between Japan and the West. Japan gets a set, players theorycraft and compete, and the winners and losers shake out. Then the same set arrives in North America and Europe — and everyone already knows what's good. Card prices spike on release because demand is informed; supply chases. With simultaneous release, the meta develops everywhere at once. No more "Japan had this for two months, we're just catching up." Everyone's figuring it out together.

Why it matters for the market

Unified release should flatten some of the wild price swings. When Japan and the West open the same product on the same day, there's no advance intel driving pre-order spikes or late-arrival dumps. That's not to say chase cards won't spike — they will. But the information asymmetry that gave early adopters and importers an edge will shrink. Collectors and players in the West get the same shot as everyone else. Expect the transition to happen gradually; Bandai will likely align release dates set by set, with full parity expected around mid-2026 (roughly OP-16 and beyond).

OP-14 and the EB-04 crossover

In the meantime, OP-14 "The Azure Sea's Seven" is slated for January 16, 2026 in the West, with a twist: it will include half the cards from EB-04. Western players get some of that content earlier than Japan, which is a reversal of the usual flow. A small step toward parity, and a sign that Bandai is serious about closing the gap. We're not calling a top or a bottom on any card — but if you've been waiting for a fairer shake, 2026 is the year. May your pulls be legendary and your meta reads be sharp.

One Piece Card Game — simultaneous worldwide release coming in 2026

Roronoa Zoro from Romance Dawn was one of the first leaders in the One Piece Card Game — and he's still one of the best. OP01-001 gives all your Characters +1000 power for one DON!! on your turn. Simple, effective, and the foundation of Red aggressive strategies. If you're building Red, you've probably looked at Zoro. If you're collecting, you've seen the Parallel art command a premium.

Why Zoro still tops Red

Zoro's leader ability is unconditional. Play characters, attach DON!!, swing. No setup, no combo, no gimmick. Red thrives on tempo and raw power; Zoro delivers. Romance Dawn also gave us the Character version — OP01-025 — with Rush, another staple for Red decks. Together, the Leader and the Character define the archetype. New sets have added support, but the core stays: Zoro leads, Zoro swings.

The Parallel version of OP01-001 trades at a steep premium. Romance Dawn boxes are old; supply is finite. If you're chasing the Parallel, singles are usually the path. Roronoa Zoro — Romance Dawn leader that still defines Red

March 21, 2025. Royal Blood [OP-10] is now in English hands. After its Japanese debut in late 2024, the set has crossed the Pacific and hit retail at $4.99 per pack — standard pricing for the game. If you haven't been following, OP-10 is the Dressrosa and Punk Hazard set: Celestial Dragons, Donquixote Family members, and a cast of characters that One Piece manga readers have been waiting years to see in foil. The secondary market was already pricing in the chase pulls before the English boxes arrived. Now the real numbers start.

What Royal Blood brings

The set ships with 126+1 card types — including one Treasure Rare, two Secret Rares, and ten Super Rares. Thematically, it's Punk Hazard and Dressrosa: the arc that introduced Trafalgar Law as a proper ally, the full Donquixote Family, Caesar Clown's gas experiments, and the backstory of Corazon. For lore-heavy fans, this is one of the most emotionally loaded arcs in the series, and the card art reflects it — especially in the parallel and alternate-art variants.

Cards driving secondary market demand

A full OP-10 set has been estimated at over $2,100 USD in combined secondary market value — high, but not unusual for a One Piece set with premium chase variants. The cards turning heads:
